Face
You are drawing the 10×16 outside face — the side everyone else sees. The two side edges and the top and bottom seams are derived from it.

How it works
- You are drawing the 10×16 outside face. That is the side everyone else sees. A full cape PNG is 64×32 and also holds the inside face, the two side edges and the top and bottom seams — the editor fills those in for you when you export.
- The inside is derived unless you draw it. Leave the Inside face blank and it becomes a darker copy of the outside, which is what most capes look like. Draw on it and your version is used instead.
- Paint the sheet, watch the model. The preview updates on every stroke, so you can see straight away where a pattern lands. Press Player to put the cape on a character, and Spin to turn it.
- Erase, do not paint white. Anything you leave transparent stays transparent in game. Painting the unused parts white gives your cape a white border.
Good to know
- Nothing is uploaded. The sheet is a canvas in your browser and the download is written from it, so your design never leaves your computer.
- Java will not load a cape from a file. Mojang grants Java capes to accounts, so these are for the cape mods, servers and clients that do accept a file, for Bedrock packs, and for designing. That is the honest answer and it is better than finding out afterwards.
- Two export sizes. 64×32 is the standard cape format. The HD export is the same drawing at 16× the size, for the mods that accept higher-resolution capes.
- Start from a design. Pick any of the 6852 capes in the library under Start from, then change what you want — quicker than starting from an empty sheet.
